Meet Sarajean

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, my mom put me into dance class at age 3, because I “needed an outlet”. That quickly led to pageants, talent competitions, voice lessons, commercials and modeling— all by the age of 6.

At age 7, my life’s course was permanently altered when I discovered Children’s Theatre (cue the magical fairy dust sound effect). It was the marriage of all of my skills, and a sanctioned place to live in a make believe world. I had found my place, my people, and my purpose.

I went on to receive a BFA in Musical Theatre from the acclaimed University of Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music (CCM), am a member of Actor’s Equity Association, and a proud resident of Washington Heights for nearly 25 years.

I have taught Theatre in afterschool programs in Inwood and Harlem, and am a director for the Pied Piper Children’s Theatre, having most recently directed and choreographed their winter 2023 children’s play, Through the Enchanted Mirror. I am also a neighborhood mom of 2 daughters, and won a 2024 District 6 Exemplary Parent award for my work as President of the Parents Association at Muscota New School.

I’m passionate about sharing with kids the benefits of studying theatre— and not just for the ones who want to be stars.

* Study of theatre helps children develop:

  • Confidence and self discipline

  • Emotional intelligence

  • Comfort in, and agency over their body

  • Vocal control, diction, and projection

  • The ability to take detailed direction

  • The ability to work synchronously as a team

    * All of these skills lead to more success in every area of their lives.

If your kid “needs an outlet”, this is the place for them.
